We have an exciting opportunity to appoint an experienced Mission System Design Engineer to join our dynamic team at Delkia.


Overview of the role


We are seeking an experienced engineers in aerospace mission systems design to join our dynamic team at Delkia. The ideal candidate will have experience in platform level Mission systems Requirements Definition and Integration across the engineering lifecycle through life. This includes systems requirements capture and decomposition and model-based system engineering to architect the system functions. Knowledge of Model Based System modelling techniques with a strong background in practical implementation of MBSE practices at system & Subsystem level. The candidate should be conversant with various industry standards and their implementation on engineering projects.


Key responsibilities:


  • Support the air system requirements and architecture modelling implementation on Missions Systems.
  • Support the gathering of product qualification evidence to support verification of test requirements from rig testing to flight testing.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise on own areas of expertise and develop own and others knowledge and experience to develop the capability
  • Implement the client MBSE Culture and champion the MBSE ethos particularly in State Diagram Definition.
  • Support Internal and client capability in line with Model based and digitisation strategies.
  • Integrate with Safety regime to demonstrate controls to Support Platform Safety Case and Integrated Test and Evaluation Planning activities, particularly implementing Hazard analysis FFA and FTA techniques.
  • Provide day to day reporting in alignment with client standards and practices.
  • Liaise with, client, and project teams to address System Design queries and ensure that Platform considerations are integrated throughout project lifecycles.
  • Remain current of industry developments in System certification and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the organization and wider industry.
  • Mentor engineers across the discipline and wider engineering teams and contribute to their professional development as well as their own.

Job requirements

Desired Qualifications / Prerequisites:


  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Chartered Engineer status with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with Model based systems Engineering toolsets and standards e.g. SYSML, DS CAMEO, Rationale Rhapsody, PTC Integrity Modeller, Statemate, Simulink, DOORS.
  • Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management toolsets e.g. Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, DS Enovia, PCMS Dimensions.
  • Demonstrable experience in Systems Software Application Design at Platform and / or Systems level, with a focus on the changes to existing systems requirements and implementation of Configuration management systems.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to guide, mentor and develop teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented approach to system architecture.
  • Flexibility to adapt to different sectors and work environments.


Preferred Skills:


  • Ideally familiar with System Engineering standards e.g. ISO 15288 & ISO 15288.1.
  • Avionics or Maritime Control & Indication background.
  • Experience in other relevant safety standards and regulations (e.g., ARP 4754 / 4761, DO 254, DO-178C).
  • Deep understanding of Industry related standards e.g. Def Stan 00-970, CS 23, 25, Def Stan 07-085, Mil-HDBK-516 for Platform certification within the Aerospace sector.
